How to Screenshot a Single Window (Windows & Mac)

Grabbing the whole screen when you only need one window means cropping afterward. Both Windows and Mac can capture a single window directly.

Windows

Click the window to focus it, then press Alt + PrtScn. The active window is copied to your clipboard. Paste it straight into sshot.online with Ctrl + V to get a link.

Mac

Press Cmd + Shift + 4, then tap Space. The cursor becomes a camera — click the window you want and it captures just that window, with a subtle shadow.

Share it in one step

  1. Capture the window (clipboard on Windows, a file on Mac).
  2. Open sshot.online and paste or drop it.
  3. Copy the link and share it anywhere.

For an even faster flow on web pages, the browser extension selects a region and returns a link in one click. Full platform shortcuts are in our screenshot shortcuts guide. Free, no account.
