How to install

The extension installs in under a minute using your browser's developer mode — no store account or review needed.

  1. Download & unzip. Download the ZIP, then extract it. You'll get a folder named sshot-extension.
  2. Open your browser's extensions page:
    • Chrome / Brave / Opera → chrome://extensions
    • Microsoft Edge → edge://extensions
  3. Enable “Developer mode” using the toggle in the top-right corner.
  4. Click “Load unpacked” and select the unzipped sshot-extension folder.
  5. Pin it. Click the puzzle-piece icon in your toolbar and pin sshot.online so it's always one click away.

How to use

  1. Press Ctrl+Shift+S (or click the toolbar icon → Select area & capture).
  2. The page dims — drag to select any region.
  3. Use the floating toolbar to draw, highlight, add arrows or text.
  4. Hit Upload to get a share link (it opens automatically), or Copy / Download instead.

Press Esc to cancel a selection and Ctrl+Z to undo. On restricted pages (chrome://, the Web Store, other extension pages), the extension can't draw an overlay and opens a full-tab editor instead.

Updating

To update later, download the latest ZIP, unzip it over the old folder, then click the refresh icon on the extension's card in chrome://extensions.
