You can attach an image to a tweet directly, but sometimes you want a link instead — in a reply, a DM, or when the image would push you over your media limit in a thread. Here is how to do both.
Attaching a screenshot to a tweet
Click the image icon in the composer and select your screenshot. X hosts it inline. This is best for the main image of a post.
Sharing a screenshot as a link
- Open sshot.online and paste or drop your screenshot.
- Copy the share link.
- Paste it into a reply, a DM, or a thread.
X unfurls the link into a preview card, so people see the image without you spending a media slot.
Keep links tidy
If your tweet also includes a long URL, run it through the URL shortener first so it does not eat characters. Both tools are free and need no account.
